Bride's Stories Catriona

Catriona had planned a fairy tale theme for her wedding and felt that her gown should have a whimsical quality. She also wanted a dramatic and figure hugging silhouette. These seemingly contradictory ideas made it difficult for Catriona to settle on a final design for her gown. So with five weeks until the wedding I told Catriona, 'Trust me, it will be the right dress.'

The proportions of Catriona's wedding gown create an hourglass silhouette; a fitted, wrapped Duchess-silk bodice, with a deep V-neckline and a low back, and a skirt with a silk-chiffon overlay for added fullness. Originally the gown featured crossover straps at the back; however, during the design process this was changed to a single shoulder strap. To create a

whimsical feeling, frayed Duchess silk and chiffon were added to the strap and this carried through to the scattered pieces of silk and chiffon decorating the skirt.

'I had the perfect dress,' Catriona told me. And she was the perfect bride; one of her wedding photos featured on the cover of the Sunday Star Times Weddings edition magazine.
