Bride's Stories
Helen
Having booked in for a beautiful beaded lace wedding gown we started six month before the wedding with the first fittings. Sometime after the second fitting Helen rang me with some exiting news. She was pregnant and I was the second person to be told.
We decided to put everything on hold and give her time to adjust and plan to the new circumstances. Speaking some time later, Helen had just found out that she was going to have triplets. At the date of the wedding she would be seven month pregnant. Could I still make her wedding gown? I assured her not to worry, but suggested a redesign. We needed a style to fall softly over her tummy, support her bust and easily accommodate her changing shape. It would have to be cool, comfortable and
of course absolutely gorgeous! We decided to work with a sweetheart neckline covered in beaded lace and little straps. A rich cream silk crepe, cut flared on the bias would fall softly and not cling. For romance and movement we cut meters and meters of the finest silk chiffon into sheer skirt layers. We then detailed the gown with glossy satin and a stunning brooch. Helen was thrilled with the result.
I received an email from Helens husband after the wedding. He thanked me for my flexibility and making sure Helen looked and felt fantastic on her wedding day. According to his words the gown set the tone for the day and brought tears to his eyes.
